Cancellation date extension for the Biltmore/Kiwanis 15k/5k Classic

We are excited to see all of the race participants in just 10 days at Biltmore Estate for the 15th Annual running of the Biltmore/Kiwanis 15k/5k Classic! There is daily ‘movement’ going on on with race participants switching between the 15k and 5k races and folks canceling because of injury, date conflicts or just not training! If you would like to cancel your race entry or move to another class please go to your profile via imATHLETE to make either of these changes.

We have extended the cancellation date for the race until Thursday, May 17th (midnight) so that more folks from the waitlist have an opportunity to get into the event. If you are on the waitlist and you get moved over after Saturday, May 12th (the original cancellation deadline) and you are unable to make the event because of short notice/travel plans, etc please let us know and we will give you a code to use to run in next year’s event and then the next person on the waitlist will be notified that they are in.

Saturday, May 19th, 2012

1-5 p.m. Packet pick-up at the DoubleTree Hotel (You are strongly encouraged to pick up your packet prior to race morning to avoid delays.)

Race Day – Sunday, May 20th

5:30 a.m.–6:15 a.m. Packet pick-up and purchase spectator tickets at DoubleTree Hotel.

5:30 a.m.–6:30 a.m. Entry to Biltmore

6:00 a.m. Creamery open in Biltmore’s Antler Hill Village selling coffee and selection of breakfast items

7:05 a.m. Welcome and line-up—starting line adjacent to the Biltmore Winery

7:10 a.m. Final race instructions

7:15 a.m. 15K Official Race Start

7:20 a.m. 5K Official Race Start

8:45 a.m. 5K Awards Ceremony Food Tent Area, 15K Awards Ceremony will follow

9:45 a.m. All runners must be off the course

Due to the large turnout we have separated the photos into several categories. Under Photocard number or keyword
type in the key word for your category:

• Start of Race Photos: 15kstart, 5kstart
Photos that are taken before the race and during the start will appear here.
• 15K Runners by house: 15khousemale, 15khousefemale, 15khousefm
Photos taken by the front of Biltmore House will be separated by gender.
• Finish Line Photos: 0:01-0:29, 0:30-0:49, 0:50-1:09, 1:10-1:39, 1:40-1:59, 2:00-2:40
Photos will be separated by finish times. Both 5k and 15k runners will be mixed in this group and you will need to look
through the photos according to your finish time.

Search through the photos, checking off your photos or the ones you want to see. It will then ask you to register with
your e-mail and a password. After you register, it will take you into the order page where you can order the photos and
different photo products. A portion of the proceeds goes towards the Kiwanis Foundation. Please allow 24–48 hours for
photos to upload. The photos will be available online for six months.

Biltmore/Kiwanis races almost full!

The Biltmore Kiwanis Classic Race is close to capacity as stated online via the Asheville Citizen Times today! Follow the story here.  As of today, 844 spots are taken and the 5K race is “technically full.” There are only 156 spots left in the 15K.

What happens if the race sells out? Can I still get in?

There are several ways that you may still get a spot in the race when it sells out. When someone cancels or changes their race entry, this will free up spots to the race, which will allow someone new to register for the event. Please continue to check the imATHLETE registration page up to the race date to see if any spots have opened up. We will also post updates on our Facebook page as we see entries come available.

Waitlist:

A waitlist will launch when the entire race has been sold out. The waitlist lets you sign up for a chance to participate in the event and is a handy way to acquire a race entry after the event has sold out. Signing up for a Wait List does not guarantee you will get in the event.

The terms for an event’s waitlist will be printed at the bottom of the first screen of imATHLETE registration only if an event is filled to capacity.

If you sign up on a waitlist, you will be notified if a slot in the race opens up for you. If you do NOT get into an event, you will not receive a refund for the waitlist slot. imATHLETE does not offer refunds. Instead, you will receive a Gift Code from the event organizer that can be used to register for the 2013 Biltmore/Kiwanis Race.

Cancellation policy:

We understand that emergencies happen, people get sick and injuries happen. Participants may cancel race entries up to Sunday, May 6th and receive a 50% credit towards the 2013 Biltmore/Kiwanis race.
