2013 BILTMORE/KIWANIS 15K/5K CLASSIC RACE RESULTS

Congratulations to all the runners that participated in the 16th Annual – 2013 Biltmore/Kiwanis 15k/5k Classic Race to benefit Kiwanis Children’s Charities. Winners of the 15K are Rich Velazquez, 33, of New York and Suzanne Hutchins, 33, of Gastonia. Winners of the 5K were Ethen Arboleda, 15, of Flat Rock, and Ashtyn Smith, 13, of Winston Salem. The race sold out at 1,100 runners.  Participants in the Biltmore/Kiwanis 15K run directly past the front doors of the Biltmore House.  We hope you all enjoyed the event as much as we did!

A special thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Asheville, iDaph Events for race direction, all the volunteers, Right on Time Management for your finish line and timing support and to our sponsors including Bank of America and Merrill Lynch, Southeastern Sports Medicine, Charlotte Street Computers and our other 2013 race sponsors.  The post-race massages by the Inn on Biltmore Estate and the chiropractic adjustments by Myers Chiropractic were the icing on the cake and made the event even more special. Thank you all!

Biltmore Kiwanis 15k 5k Classic Race

This year is the 16th Annual running of the Biltmore/Kiwanis 15k/5k races! With the races only one month away, registration is already full for the 5k* race and nearly maxed out for the 15k race! This classic race is limited to the first 1,100 entrants, once they are gone, they are gone! All participants will receive a specially designed commemorative, RECOVER Brand, dri-fit race t-shirt and an unforgettable race experience at the Biltmore Estate. Additional information is available online at the race website. You can still register online at imATHLETE.com until the race is full. A waitlist will go into effect when the race fills up.

*The 5k race is full, however, you can still register for the event by signing up for the 15k race and then when the 15k race fills up you can go online to your imathlete profile and switch yourself to the 5k race. This will only work while the 15k race still has spots so if you want in, this is your last chance!*

When runners participate in the race, they are not only competing for medals, but also are helping to fund the Kiwanis Children’s Charities which supports several local youth programs.

Race Details: Runners mark your calendars for Sunday, May 19th, 2013 at 7:15am, for the Biltmore/Kiwanis 15K/5K Classic Races. Both races are the same as in previous years and are run entirely on the scenic grounds of Biltmore estate. The 15K begins at the Winery, climbs to the Deerpark Restaurant then descends and climbs along the main road to Biltmore House where runners will loop in front of the massive main entrance doors of the house. Runners next enter the Walled Garden, pass by the Azalea Garden and lagoon along the French Broad River, and then finish by returning to the Winery. The first half of the course has two challenging hills, while the second half is down hill to flat terrain. The 5K course will be a flat, out and back course starting at the Winery and paralleling the French Broad River.

The Biltmore/Kiwanis 15k/5k race is limited to the first 1,100 entrants, and it is filling up fast! The 5k is already full and the 15k will be soon.   All participants will receive a specially designed commemorative race t-shirt and an unforgettable race experience at the Biltmore Estate. Want to run in the 5k but missed out? You still have a chance to race. Just sign up for the 15k race and then when the race sells out we can switch your entry to the 5k race.

Biltmore Challenge: Make it your Crowning Achievement!

With a trinity of exquisite races at the Estate on our 2013 calendar, we thought we would take your Biltmore experience one step further by offering yet another iDaph events test of will! If you can manage to finish ALL THREE of the 2013 races at Biltmore, you will be able to lay claim to the prizes that lie in wait for those with the grit to complete our Challenge.

To complete THE ROYAL TRIFECTA CHALLENGE, runners must successfully complete these three 2013 Biltmore races: the original Asheville Marathon, the Du the Asheville Du, and the Kiwanis Classic 15k/5k race.

Those who successfully accomplish the task will receive their retribution at the close of the Kiwanis Classic race. Finishers will receive a special ‘ROYAL TRIFECTA CHALLENGE AWARD, as well as  other royal prizes! If you can “Du the Du”, go the distance in the marathon, and lay down a classic performance at the Kiwanis race, all that separates you from some sweet prizes are the distances that make up our Biltmore races, and the manpower (or womanpower) needed to cover them.

All for fun, and fun for all, this Biltmore experience will surely be the stuff of legend. The gauntlet has been thrown down. The cup is up for grabs. Do you have what it takes to triumph over the ROYAL TRIFECTA CHALLENGE?

It is hard to believe: 2013 marks 16 years “running” of the much acclaimed Kiwanis 15k/5k Classic… And you know how to celebrate 16 years don’t you? With a party of course! And what kind of party can be better than one where you come as a guest, bring nothing but yourself, and YOU get to leave with all the goods (without being called a bum)? Talk about having your cake, eating it too, and having the time of your life running it off through the largest “Backyard of America!”

What is it that makes this 16th Annual Kiwanis 15k/5k Classic Race at Biltmore Estate set for Sunday, May 19, 2013 race so great? Well, the answer to that is too long to cover in a short blog, but let’s highlight some of this event’s key features, shall we?

Biltmore/Kiwanis 15k/5k Classic

First and foremost, both races are run entirely on the scenic grounds of stunning Biltmore Estate.
